Length of Surgery:
The surgery will be done as outpatient and is typically done at the Cumberland Valley Surgery Center. The surgery usually lasts about 1-2 hours.
Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure usually performed under local anesthesia. After surgery, women may experience some mild discomfort and swelling, which usually disappears completely after 1-2 weeks. Labial incisions usually heal and are rarely noticeable. After Labiaplasty surgery there will be some discomfort and swelling. You can expect 80% of the swelling to subside by the end of the first week. The remaining swelling should be gone by 6 weeks.
We will give you recommendations on pre and post op care prior to your surgery. The post operative instructions after surgery include the following. Typically women will be off work 3-5 days after their labiaplasty and we recommend no sexual intercourse for 4-6 weeks until you see your doctor to make sure the labia has healed properly.
As with any surgical procedure there are certain risks. While few, the most common can include bleeding, infection, asymmetry, and scarring. Although these events are usually infrequent, they sometimes can occur. These will be discussed with you during the consultation for your procedure.
